Full shower conversion with sustainable fixture selection and material reuse Completed: 2025–26
The homeowner wanted a bathroom that felt modern and functional -but not at the expense of unnecessary waste. The existing bathroom featured an ageing bath and shower combination with dated tapware and a shower curtain setup that had seen better days. The brief was clear: transform the space into a contemporary walk-in shower, reuse what could be saved, and make smart choices about what went in.
Gordon Plumbing Solutions delivered exactly that.
This renovation was planned with waste reduction front of mind -a growing priority for Hunter Region homeowners who want a better bathroom without sending everything to landfill.
Rather than stripping the bathroom of everything and starting from scratch, GPS worked with the homeowner to identify which existing fixtures and tapware could be retained, refurbished, or repurposed -reducing both the cost of the renovation and the volume of material going to waste.
The new matte black shower system was selected with water efficiency in mind. The dual shower head configuration -rainfall overhead plus handheld -provides a premium shower experience while giving the homeowner control over water usage depending on their needs.
By converting the bath and shower over combination to a walk-in shower within the same footprint, the renovation avoided major structural changes -reducing the scope of demolition, the volume of waste generated, and the overall environmental impact of the project.
Full removal of the existing bath, shower curtain rail, and shower over fittings. New walk-in shower installed within the existing bathroom footprint -including frameless glass shower panel, new shower waste, and waterproofing to Australian Standards.
Supply and installation of a matte black dual shower column featuring a 200mm overhead rainfall showerhead and adjustable handheld shower on a slide rail -connected to a new matte black concealed wall mixer.
GPS advised the homeowner on fixture selection balancing aesthetics, water efficiency, and longevity -ensuring the finished result looks exceptional and performs reliably for years to come.
Built-in recessed shelf niche providing practical, tile-flush storage within the shower without the need for additional hardware or fittings.
All hot and cold water connections, waste connections, and pressure testing completed to AS/NZS 3500 standards. Full commissioning of all new fixtures prior to handover.
What was once a dated, cluttered bath and shower combination is now a clean, contemporary walk-in shower that feels twice the size of the original space. The matte black fixtures against crisp white tiles create a timeless aesthetic -and the homeowner has a bathroom that is more water-efficient, easier to clean, and genuinely enjoyable to use every day.
This is what GPS brings to residential bathroom renovations -not just the plumbing, but the thinking that turns a functional upgrade into something the homeowner is genuinely proud of.
